Open Forum for CSO Development Effectiveness
06:01' PM - Sunday, 06/06/2010
Call for
Participation in the Global Process on Open Forum for CSO Development
Effectiveness
As development actors, we CSOs
are concerned not just about aid effectiveness but more so on development
effectiveness – the impact of our actions on improving the lives of the
poor and marginalised; and the promotion of sustainable positive change that
addresses, within a democratic framework, the root causes as well as the
symptoms of poverty, inequality and marginalisation.
It is in this light that the Open
Forum for CSO Development Effectiveness was conceptualized as an international
CSO-driven process towards coming up with a global development effectiveness
framework and enabling environments for CSOs through consultations with CSOs and
other development actors.
In an effort to make the process as
inclusive and representative of the diverse CSOs as possible, we
are inviting all civil society organizations (i.e. VNGO, INGO, Umbrella Organization, Research Organizations, Community
Development organizations, Trade Union, etc.) to participate in the Vietnam
national consultation on CSO Development Effectiveness to be held at National
Assembly Guest House, 02 Hoang Cau street, Dong Da district, Hanoi: June 23-24 will primarily be a CSO activity
for in-depth discussions and consensus-building on a CSO development
effectiveness framework; a multi-stakeholder dialogue on June 25 at National Assembly
Guest House, 02 Hoang Cau street, Dong Da district, Hanoi, will also be
held to build understanding and support
among official donors, governments and possibly other development stakeholders
for an enabling environment for CSO actions. This is also
aimed at resulting in a multi-stakeholder agreement on a set of minimum
enabling conditions critical to the effectiveness of CSOs as development
actors.
Limited slots for subsidies on participation are available. Interested
organizations must submit duly-accomplished application form and other
requirements for evaluation by the organizers on or before June 7th at
Research Center for Management and Sustainable
Development (MSD), 101 A2, lane 72, Nguyen Chi Thanh, Dong Da district, Ha Noi
or by email: msd.vietnam@gmail.com.
